Running For My life!

I’ve been asking myself a simple question lately: Is this really a five-alarm fire? At this point in my life, I’ve learned that too many of the battles I’ve fought never needed to be fought at all. My mind can build a convincing case that I’m being threatened, dismissed, or disrespected. But the mind is like a skilled attorney, it can find evidence for almost any argument if I let it.

Our nervous system evolved to keep us alive in a world filled with predators and constant danger. It served our ancestors well when survival depended on reacting instantly. But today, most of the threats we face aren’t saber-toothed tigers. They’re uncomfortable conversations, criticism, uncertainty, or someone who simply sees the world differently. Too often we mistake discomfort for danger. The hose in the dark garage becomes a snake because our ancient wiring assumes the worst.

The challenge isn’t to stop having fearful thoughts. It’s to stop believing every one of them. Just because a thought appears in your mind doesn’t make it true, wise, or worthy of your attention. Before reacting to your spouse, your coworker, your boss, or the stranger who pushes your buttons, pause. Ask yourself, What is actually happening? Then ask the harder question: Who do I want to be in this moment?

Your life is shaped less by what happens to you than by the quality of your responses. Every pause creates space for wisdom to speak louder than fear. Every thoughtful response weakens old survival patterns and strengthens emotional intelligence. Leaning into your life isn’t about reacting faster. It’s about responding from the deepest, wisest part of yourself. That’s where real freedom begins.

Offering an opportunity to help you find new possibility in your life.
